The line-up has been confirmed for this week’s Skills and Careers Fair.
Thirty-four companies will be in attendance at Whitehaven Civic Hall on Friday, April 28 from 2pm to 6pm, to offer information and guidance on a wide range of careers.
Organisations who will have a presence at the fair are: the Army; ARUP; Confor; Cumberland Council; Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service; Cumbria Health on Call; Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership; Cumbria Tourism; Cumbria Youth Alliance; Energy Coast UTC; Forestry England; Gen2; Home Group; Inspira; Industrial Solutions Hub; Jacobs; Lakes College; Morgan Sindall; National Nuclear Laboratory; National Trust; Natural England; North Cumbria Integrated Care; RAF; Rosehill Theatre; Sellafield Ltd, and Programme and Project Partners (PPP); Skills 4 U; TACP Architects; UCLan; University of Cumbria; West Cumbria Rivers Trust; West Lakes Engineering.
Trudy said: “I’d like to thank all the organisations for their commitment to the Skills and Careers Fair; it promises to be an enjoyable and informative afternoon.
“There are so many interesting and rewarding careers available in Copeland and I look forward to helping to showcase a selection of them.”
The Skills and Careers Fair is being supported by Cumbria Deaf Association, and a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter will be in attendance.
Also supporting the event is Team Autism, whose members will be on hand to assist any visitors who are autistic.
Susan McKenzie, from Team Autism, said: "Team Autism are pleased to support the skills fair and we'll have our team of Autistic Volunteers on hand to offer support to access any information required at the skills fair, and an autism friendly space in the room.”
Trudy added: “The Skills and Careers Fair will be as inclusive as possible. We anticipate the first hour (2pm to 3pm) will be the least busy – before the schools finish – so encourage those who prefer a quieter atmosphere to join us at this time.
“Additionally, we have a quiet space available, away from the noise of the main hall, to allow individual conversations to take place between guests and employers where preferred.”
