Trudy has congratulated an award-winning school for their environmental credentials.
Trudy visited St Bridget’s School, Parton, to hold an assembly and to meet the pupils who took part in the recent Bright Stars project for which they earned first place in the ‘Best Logo’ category.
The pupils told Trudy about their ‘seed bomb’ project, in which they designed, marketed and sold the nature-friendly product to the local community.
Trudy also explained about the democratic process and her role as Copeland’s MP – involving work in the constituency and Westminster – combined with her position as a Defra Minister responsible for protecting nature.
Trudy said: “It was a pleasure to visit St Bridget’s School. I am consistently impressed by the level of knowledge and interest our local pupils have in protecting wildlife and the environment, and St Bridget’s was another fine example.
“I very much enjoyed hearing about their seed bomb project, and seeing an example of their work, and I’m glad it has been such a tremendous success. I have invited the pupils to write to me with their ideas about how we can continue to protect the environment and I look forward to hearing their suggestions.”
Headteacher Ruth Colley added: “We are extremely proud of the environmental work we do with the Primary Business Partnership, through our John Muir Award and as a Beach School. It was a pleasure for the children to share this.”
