Trudy Harrison will join a panel of leading industry officials to discuss careers advice at the UK’s largest skills show as part of her role on the Education Select Committee.
The Skills Show, held at the NEC in Birmingham will see Mrs Harrison take part in a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style panel session joining ministers and education professionals to discuss careers advice.
Attracting more than 170,000 young people, the he annual three-day event aims to shape the futures of the country’s young people.
The visit comes just weeks after Mrs Harrison hosted her own skills fair in Whitehaven earlier this month.
Mrs Harrison, said: “I am really looking forward to joining in the careers advice discussion as part of my role on the Education Select Committee, as well as Apprentice Ambassador.
“The show offers a true representation of the future of Britain and is a great opportunity to engage with a wide variety of training providers, employers and young people about the wealth of opportunities that are available to them. It is a fantastic platform which highlights to young people that the world really is their oyster and I am looking forward to learning more about what is on offer.”
Over 200 national and local employers and training organisations will be on on-hand to speak with young people, their parents and teachers.
Independent careers advisers and other experts will be on hand to give up to date advice and guidance on all routes into jobs from live job vacancies, apprenticeships and training opportunities.
Spotlight talks from industry leads will also give young people insights into specific industries and professions.
