Trudy is hosting an online session next week to champion apprenticeships in the constituency.
Trudy is marking National Apprenticeship Week by welcoming Alex Burghart MP, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Skills, to the event where they will speak with apprentices and apprentice providers from across Copeland to share their experiences and to provide first-hand information and advice on the opportunities apprenticeships provide.
Joining the MPs for the discussion on Thursday, February 10 will be local apprentices and apprentice providers from a range of sectors, including nuclear, utilities, health, leisure and tourism.
Trudy said: “I have always been a strong advocate of National Apprenticeship Week and I am delighted to be supporting this important annual week of celebration by championing apprenticeships here in Copeland.
“There have been 9,540 apprenticeship starts in Copeland since 2010, and the benefits are significant. Apprenticeships help individuals develop skills and knowledge for a rewarding career and help employers build a workforce for the future. They are also a crucial way to address skills shortages, invest in future talent, and help more people access high skilled, high wage jobs.”
Members of the public have the opportunity to put apprentice-related questions to Mrs Harrison, Mr Burghart and the panel by submitting questions in advance by emailing [email protected] by 5pm on Monday, February 7.
The session will be broadcast live on Trudy's Facebook page (@trudyharrisonforcopeland) at 9am on Thursday, February 10 and a recording will remain on the page’s feed to be viewed afterwards.
