The international opportunities for Cumbria together with the development of higher apprenticeship schemes were among topics discussed by the MP for Copeland and the University of Cumbria’s director of industrial strategy.
Professor Andy Gale met Trudy Harrison MP for a wide-ranging discussion about the university’s aims and ambition.
“The University of Cumbria is leading work on the development of higher apprenticeships which are of vital importance to industry across Cumbria,” Professor Gale said.
“We’re already playing an important part in offering pathways to higher education – that’s exactly the reason why the University of Cumbria was created over a decade ago. Now we’re looking forward to developing skill still further and are confident links with industry and politicians will help us boost Cumbria’s economic security.”
Mrs Harrison, said: “As a Government ambassador for apprenticeships I was delighted to meet with Andy, to learn of the brilliant work that University of Cumbria is involved with. Ensuring that we continue the legacy of local world class skills and also welcome students from far and wide to Cumbria is critical.”
