Job seekers and school leavers searching for their dream career can learn more about the options available at this year’s Copeland Skills Fair.
Returning for a second year on Thursday 8th November at The Solway Hall in Whitehaven from 3pm till 7pm, the free event hosted by Trudy Harrison MP, will once again offer young people and those looking to retrain the opportunity to find out more about what is on offer in their area.
Continuing her pledge to ensure a bright future for the area’s young people, Mrs Harrison’s skills fair will see local employers, career professionals and training providers representing a broad range of trades come together to help give school students and job seekers some helpful career guidance.
This year, companies and organisations including the Royal Marines, North West Ambulance Service, West Lakes Adventure, Copeland Borough Council and many more have been invited to showcase their career and apprenticeship opportunities.
Mrs Harrison, said: “For a young person, the many career paths and learning opportunities available can often be overwhelming, and as a mother of four daughters, I understand this all too well. My youngest daughter is currently choosing her own path to follow.
“That’s why I am once again delighted to be hosting Copeland Skills Fair; supporting our area’s young people as they begin to prepare for the next stages of their lives – for me, helping them to secure a prosperous and exciting future doing something they love is what it is all about.
“I am incredibly grateful to the fair’s sponsors who have once again made it all possible and I am looking forward to meeting as many young people and those hoping to take up a new skill as possible. I would also like to thank all the fantastic businesses and local organisations who have agreed to join me so far to showcase their work and opportunities.
“It isn’t too late to get involved - if you would like to showcase your business or organisation at the Copeland Skills Fair, please do get in touch by emailing [email protected].”
Last year more than 45 local companies and businesses including Storey Homes, Sellafield Ltd and NNL exhibited their work to hundreds of school pupils and job seekers.
